As soon as summer starts heating up, most of us start dreaming of relaxing on a quiet, beautiful beach. If you are one of them, Talashil Tondavali is what you are looking for.
Just 50 km away from Kankavli railway station, it is an idyllic village on the west coast of Maharashtra, India. There is just one road through it, with sea on one side and backwater on another. Along this road, there are quite a few homestays with hammocks tied to coconut trees in the yard. You can get authentic, mouth-watering malvani food there. Do try drinks made from kokum, a local fruit best for summer due to its cooling and digestive properties. Solkadhi goes well with a meal and Kokum juice or soda can be consumed anytime. Fish lovers will be delighted here as the fish is tastier due to being freshly caught, prepared with flavorful coastal recipes.
What sets apart Talashil Tondavali is how clean both the beach and backwater are. It’s an unexplored hidden gem just starting to get recognition. There are adventure sports activities on the beach but not too many. The fishermen are active here and their equipment can be found on the beach. You will see small fishing boats, fishing nets etc. If you are lucky, you can spot dolphins frolicking in the sea early morning. You can take a walk along the backwater as well.
All in all, it is a place to chill and unwind. Don’t rush through here. Wake up early and cross your fingers that you will get to see dolphins. Take a walk on the beach in the evening and you will see local kids enjoying a game of cricket. On the benches in the sand, there would be a few villagers discussing local matters. Ask people for directions or information and you will see how friendly they are. The way of life is so calm, content! A trip for 2 days is just what you need to beat the summer blues!
